Nowhere is the focus on partnership clearer than at IFA, which has provided a powerful platform for China's expansion over the last two decades. It was fitting, then, that senior figures from Chinese industry and the Chinese government should come together with members of the IFA family to open the China Brands Show, a unique opportunity to learn about important market trends in China and the innovative Chinese products that are set to influence consumers' lives around the world. At the official opening ceremony, Jin Hong, Director of the Trade Development Bureau at the PRC Ministry Of Commerce, thanked IFA for its support in the promotion of Chinese brands. As host of the Chinese Brands Show, she said that she looked forward to "further understanding and closer co-operation between China and the international market." Her remarks were endorsed by Zhipu Yu of the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products (CCCME), coorganiser of the Show. He said: "We are honoured to be hosting the organisation of the China Brands Show and extend our sincere thanks to our guests. The China Brands Show is an opportunity for our partners to meet world famous Chinese enterprises and learn about their products. It is our honour to have the opporutnity to present our industry as a group to European consumers." Wang Weidong, Minister- Counsellor and Leader of the Economic and Commercial Section at the Chinese Embassy in Germany, added: "The China Brands Show will help with the recognition and image of Chinese consumer electronics brands here at IFA, which is the world's most influential exhibition. I am glad to see the promotion of Chinese brands at the China Brands Show, with its support from the Chinese Ministry of Commerce." Also present at the Official Opening Ceremony was IFA Executive Director Jens Heithecker, who drew comparisons between the growth of IFA and the growth of Chinese brands. He said: "I'd like to congratulate the outstanding brands here at IFA and thank the Ministry Of Commerce for supporting the China Brands Show. Chinese brands stand out because of the quality of their products, their presentation and their brand communication." Li Dongsheng, TCL chairman and CEO, said leading Chinese companies have improved their technological innovation competence and also perfected their approach to the international market, an approach that often involves partnership with local experts. He made particular reference to the number of innovative product patents coming out China. "20 years ago there were virtually no invention patents," he said. "Now 11.9% of the world's new invention patents are coming from China. That is a big improvement from the industry." The China Brands Show will help with the recognition and image of Chinese consumer electronics brands here at IFA The China Brands Show comprises a series of activities. These include lectures and seminars on China's elite brands, a Smart Home Experience Zone and a networking conference for executives from China and EU. Chinese companies supporting the event include Haier, Hisense, Gree, Midea, Changhong, TCL, Galanz, Chigo, Donlim, Xingx, Lexy, Ecovacs, Huayu, Yueli, Cuori and Kaibo. IDG can claim to have a true international reach as its products and services reach 280 million technology buyers in 97 countries.
